Treasure Island Callbacks WEDNESDAY 8/18

The following students are invited to callbacks after school on Wednesday, August 18.  We will meet in the auditorium at 2:15 and will finish by 4:30.  Please wear clothes you are comfortable moving in.

Treasure Island Audition Information

  • Auditions for Treasure Island are open to all students who are currently enrolled in a theatre course or have previously taken a theatre course at BHS or Bartlett Academy.  
  • There will be a $75 Activity Fee for this production.  
  • Rehearsals will begin on August 24th.  Please see the production calendar below and list all conflicts on your audition form.  No conflicts will be accepted after October 2nd.  All tech and dress rehearsals are mandatory.
  • For the good of the show and fairness to all cast, crew, and staff members, we ask that you not add any conflicts to your schedule once you have committed to the production.  If you are cast in Treasure Island  and cannot keep your rehearsal and performance commitments, the Panther Playhouse directorial staff reserves the right to replace you.  
  • Familiarity with the script is strongly advised for all auditionees.  Scripts are available to checkout from Mrs. Walz.

Round 1 Video Audition  - Deadline for submissions: Friday, August 15th by 5:00pm
Round 2 Callbacks (By Invitation Only)- Tuesday, August 18th - In BHS Auditorium 2:15-4:30
Round 3 Callbacks (By invitation only) - Wednesday, August 19th - In BHS Auditorium 2:15-4:30

​What To Prepare

  • All auditionees should prepare one of the monologues in the "Audition Monologues" folder below.
  • Memorization is HIGHLY encouraged.  
  • The most important part of your monologue preparation should be to create a three-dimensional character. As you prepare, think about your character and what he or she wants.  Keep that goal or desire in your head at all times, to keep you focused.​

Tips for Making an Audition Video

Equipment
  • You can use your phone, tablet, computer.
  • Your phone or tablet should be set horizontally- put in airplane mode or do not disturb mode to avoid interruptions.
  • Use a tripod or stand if you have one.
  • Be sure the device is at the right distance from you to frame the shot. Do not use the zoom function as this makes the image grainy or fuzzy.
Background
  • Stay away from a lot of clutter, use a simple background. 
  • Be sure the light is good. Try to minimize shadows on your face. 
  • Be sure the room is quiet. No background noise (television noise, other people practicing, dancing, cooking, etc.)
Recording
  • Look into the camera at your eye level. 
  • Tell us your name, grade, and what monologue you'll be performing. Everything should be in one video, including introduction and performance without any editing. 
  • Have someone else start and stop the recording.
  • Be sure we can see the ¾ of your body and the camera is at your eye level. Be sure you are in the center of the frame. 
Dress Attire
  • Wear solid color clothing.  
  • Avoid long, loose sleeves and baggy clothing.   
Check Your Work
  • Before submitting, make sure there is video AND audio. 
  • Make sure it is right side up. 
  • Watch and listen all the way through to make sure there are no skips, pauses, or glitches in your audition, and that you are satisfied with your submission.
